How to get there

There is a public bus every 30 min to 1 hour from Chiang Mai (in northern Thailand) to Chiang Dao. (74 km, about 1.5 to 2 hours bus ride). Take a songthaew (a small motor vehicle) from the Chiang Dao bus stop (about 10 minutes ride).  You can also rent a car or bike in Chiang Mai and drive there. 

BY PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION:

FROM CHIANG MAI

Take a public bus to Chiang Dao/Tha Tong/Fang from Chiang Mai Bus Terminal 1 (a.k.a. Chang Phuak Bus Station).  [Map]

See the timetable above. The time on the left-hand side is the departure time in Chiang Mai, northbound. The time on the right-hand side is the departure in Fang, southbound. (The time in red indicates the departure in Fang and Tha Tong.)

The bus runs every 30 min to 1 hour between 6:00 am and 17:30 (northbound) and it costs 90 THB.

(74km, It takes about 1.5-2 hours. Each bus carries 66 passengers.)

FROM CHIANG DAO BUS STATION TO THE FESTIVAL SITE

The festival site, Yang Pu Toh Campsite (ค่ายลูกเสืออำเภอเชียงดาว) is about 6 km from Chiang Dao bus stop and it takes about 10 min by songthaew. [Map]

Find a songthaew driver and negotiate the price. There should be many near the bus stop. You may share a songthaew with other festivalgoers you will meet.


DRIVING / MOTORBIKE

You can rent a car or a motorbike in Chang Mai. You can rent a bicycle in Chiang Dao.
