For you and everyone else to enjoy the Shambhala Festival safely, harmoniously and responsively, please stick to the following general rules.
1. ID and ticket:
Whenever festival staff ask you to show your ID, passport or purchased admission ticket, please show it immediately.
2. Stay away from these items:
Possessing, acquiring, purchasing, or trading explosives, weapons, drugs, illegal goods or any other potentially harmful items is strictly forbidden. Fireworks and Khom Loy (candle-lit paper lanterns) are also not allowed. Please do not bring or use glass bottles. Please properly dispose of bonfires and charcoal to avoid any fire hazards.
3. Keep clean:
"Leave the place cleaner than when you arrived" is a Japanese culture we are proud of. (Did you know a group of Japanese hippies started the Shambhala festival? 😉)
Try your best to reduce the amount of garbage produced throughout the festival, such as by bringing your own tableware even when you buy food at stools.
Please separate and dispose of your trash at the "Garbage Station" near the "Kitchen". We will take the plastic and paper to Chiang Mai University's biomass management centre.
All waste water goes directly into the river. Please be aware of this and use natural soaps, shampoos, and laundry detergents to avoid polluting the river.
Please refrain from any actions that may damage any property or equipment or cause destruction of nature.
Fire performers! Please be responsible for used fuel containers and take them with you after your performance or practice.
Keep calm and choose peace:
Please be mindful of others' inconvenience and the time of day. Do not create loud disturbances, especially during late night or early morning hours, as it can disturb others, including local residents. Avoid engaging in any behaviour that disrupts the peaceful atmosphere of the festival.
5. Safety
Be sure to locate the emergency exit signs within the venue and use them to evacuate in case of an emergency. Keeping the aisles clear of objects is crucial to prevent accidents and obstructions. Let's prioritize safety together and strive for a festival without any incidents.
